I chuckled all day long the other day as I watched my 'slow-cooker creation', being reminded of the old story about why a family always cut the end off the roast before they cooked it.I can envision Hannah's or Cailyn's daughters some day asking their mummy, "why do we tape a jar of grape jelly to the top and our crock pot? to which mummy would reply,'I don't know, my granny just always did it that way!'"
No worries, girls, I won't do this again for a long time (probably!)
The story is....I put a turkey breast in the crock pot and it was about 1/4" too tall, so I needed to weigh the lid down so it would seal correctly. It worked like a charm, by the way!
Hannah and I were just reading this together. I asked her, "Why did Granny tape a jelly jar on top of her crock pot??" To which Hannah replied, "Because, she's silly!!"
